Let us do some chemistry!!! This may be overwhelming for some but also very exciting for others. When was the last time you did any chemistry? If you answered “Never”, then you are wrong. You continue to say that chemistry is foreign to you. But do you realize that you yourself are a chemist?
You do chemistry experiments every day. Your body is a non-stop chemical process… your thinking brain is a continuous system of network controlling every single cell in your body. Your heart pumps blood throughout and oxygen exchange occurs in your lungs from every breath you take, then your muscles respond in synchronous motion following your brain’s commands. Your body is indeed a complex chemical system that needs constant attention to function properly. Positive brain thinking…power from brain chemistry.
Just thinking… CHEMISTRY!
Let’s do some chemical reactions using plain salt and water. Table salt is sodium chloride, NaCl. A salt results from mixing an acid and a base. If hydrochloric acid, HCl, and sodium hydroxide base, NaOH, are mixed together, the product is NaCl and water, H2O. Writing this as a chemical equation,
HCl + NaOH —> NaCl + H2O ————> Na+ + Cl- + H+ + OH-
In water solution, sodium chloride is ionized into positive Na+ ion and negative Cl- ion. This means that the Na+ ion is soluble in water, unless too much salt is added. When there is undissolved salt, the addition of more water will dissolve the remaining salt. Let’s prove this in a simple experiment.
Take a cup of water and place it in a tall glass. Take a teaspoon of salt and add slowly into the glass of water while mixing thoroughly. As you add a little salt at a time, notice how the salt dissolves in water. However, as you keep adding more salt, then not all the salt dissolves. The water solution turns from clear to cloudy to very cloudy when no more salt dissolves. When this happens, the solution becomes supersaturated. If you let this solution sit undisturbed for several days, crystals of sodium chloride appears.
Just thinking…CHEMISTRY!
Sodium ion is a critical element in the cells but any excess causes the cells to swell (eating salty foods) and increases blood pressure. Low sodium levels such as drinking too much water make the cells shrink. Cell chemistry is essential to maintaining correct bodily functions and is the core of having good health. Brain function is very sensitive to changes in sodium levels in the blood. Every food we eat must sustain our body chemistry in proper balance in order to maintain excellent health! The air we breathe should be clean and free of toxic particles. Good health is precious since one cannot buy good health.
So what is chemistry?
Chemistry is a physical science that studies the composition, structure, and properties of matter. This is the dictionary definition of chemistry. A chemist can combine different substances to produce a new product that is useful for the world.
The romantic definition of chemistry is that you and your loved one have “perfect chemistry”. It is like adding just enough salt to the water solution to get a clear solution, not a cloudy one. Often the sentence “They just have the right chemistry” is said about couples who have remained together for many years. This means that two or more people just get along together very well and they weather the storm and ride the waves, falling at times but rising up again. A perfect team has excellent chemistry working together on a project to its successful conclusion.
YOU and YOU are a team working together to keep yourself healthy and to think positively!
Just thinking…CHEMISTRY… POSITIVE THINKING POWER!
Positive thinking chemistry is just like adding enough salt to obtain a clear solution, to keep your cells balanced. Positive thoughts do not cloud your brain so that you are able to focus and continue to think positively. Every day becomes a joy and a positive energy exudes from you making you glow. You smile. You laugh. You enjoy. You are fun to be with. You are excited and exciting!
On the flip side, NEGATIVE thinking chemistry is like adding too much salt to your glass of water. As negative thoughts penetrate your body, your brain becomes cloudier and cloudier and you are unable to focus, unable to meet the challenges that confronts you, unable to handle the pressures of daily life, unable to cope and unable to take care of yourself and your loved ones. As more and more negative thoughts pile up, you become crystallized and unable to move forward. You do not smile. You do not laugh. You do not enjoy life and others do not enjoy your company. You look down, not up. You are more anxious…nervous…unable to find the right solutions to your problems. Take charge…dissolve all those negative thoughts just like salt dissolves in water. REMEMBER: You are the chemist of your own body…of your brain! Lift yourself up from the quagmire of negative crystallized salts! Remember your MAGIC 10 list. Make your list grow to MAGIC 100!
