MAGIC 10 AND POWER THINKING

I have been told that it is easier said than done… It is easier to tell someone to think positively but difficult to follow through. So here is a very simple and quick suggestion to start you off.

Remember the different competitions like gymnastics, ice skating, beauty pageants, body building etc.? The highest score is a 10. Remember how competitors are ranked? The best athlete or the winner was ranked #1. If you add 1 + 0 = 1. Therefore the two numbers that matter are 1 and 0…. You are #1 if you score a perfect 10.

Now let’s get back to POWER POSITIVE THINKING. You say it is hard to do. First, think of no one else but you.

1.) Write down 10 positive things about you on a piece of paper, large enough for you to read from a distance.

2.) Tape this paper on the mirror in your bathroom.

3.) Every time you look at yourself through the mirror, read aloud these 10 positive things as if you were talking to yourself.

4.) Repeat this as many times in a day but at least do this everyday for 1 week. You should feel  better about yourself and feel the MAGIC 10 empower you!

Now some say they cannot think of 10 positive things about themselves. I think you do have at least 10 positive things about you but you are just undermining yourself or that you are thinking much too negatively. Everyone has been blessed with talent or traits that make one special.

When I was in high school, several of my classmates went on a mini-retreat. There were about 45 in our class and there were the remaining 12 (I was one of them) who were either cold to this idea or just did not want to undergo this rigorous all night stand of self examination of life, the now and what can be. A priest conducted this session. Ultimately, we all finally relented. It was done at my classmate’s house. It started at 6 PM on a Friday night until the following morning, culminating in a Mass at 6 AM together with our sponsor classmates and our parent or parents. The discussions we had were in a closed room with the priest. Topics varied from religion, family, school, relationships, growing up, goals, etc. There was also a very large photo of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in this room. We were all seated comfortably on the floor with lots of pillows. During the second to the last session, we were given letters from our parents and/or siblings to read. This was a surprise and this was quite emotional. Then right after, the lights were turned off and the only remaining light was from the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The priest told us to speak aloud individually to Jesus, pouring our hearts out. Now it was already about 4 AM and we were up all night. So our brains were not only exhausted but also “framed” so that we would open up to Jesus. Oddly enough, all I could tell was that I was sorry that I disobeyed my parents and argued with my brothers, forgetting to say how strict my father was which I thoroughly disliked even till today. Obviously, it did not psychologically impair me as I should have said that to Jesus. Anyway, one of my classmates spoke up and told this to Jesus in tears: “Jesus, I am so ugly that nobody likes me.” This statement shocked me since she was not ugly. She was shy but not unlikeable. She was the daughter of a Congressman. The point I am driving at is that this is such a negative testament of one’s worth and this is a downer. You yourself must never put yourself down. You must be your own cheerleader! If you are too critical  of yourself, you will project that to the outside world. Then that will be how other people will come to see you. What follows then after one negative thought is feedback of more negative thoughts, a train full of negativity. You cannot put yourself down!

So now, think of your MAGIC 10…do some Power Thinking!

  1. Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about this, like you
wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with a few
pics to drive the message home a little bit, but other than that, this is great blog.

A fantastic read. I will definitely be back.
